Art Fact Friday: Julio Mejia has a new series of abstract fine art titled, “Memory Of Fire”. This series is about the time Mejia spent working at the United States Embassy in Peru, during his early 20’s, when Peru was experiencing terrorist activity which he witnessed. Mejia recently felt the need to express his feelings of that time with his art. Each of his new paintings are named with words that stood out to him in from the journal he kept. The gestural splashes of paint and explosion of color express to the viewer what Mejia might have felt.
ZuCot’s exhibition Spectrum will be showing Mejia’s series “Memory of Fire” – Opening night June 19th, 6pm -11pm.
