New and never before seen pieces will be shown from Aaron F. Henderson’s Negro Spirituals that explores the people, ideas, and code that was created through the songs they wrote and sang. This music is a part of american history and has transcended time by influencing music such as hip-hop, rap, R&B that we listen to today.
Richard Clark’s impressive watercolors have won many awards and focuses on genre scenes of life for African American’s after slavery up to the early 1900s.
Alfred Conteh was inspired by his previous series Bitter Poisons and Sweet Medicines that took a sobering look at where many African American community finds themselves, the new art focuses on how to move forward – Transcending expectations from others and themselves.
